Ilford Golf Club was founded in 1907 when "three-fifths" of the 80 acres of land on either side of the River Roding were acquired for use as, initially a 9 hole course with an option to develop a further 9 holes.

Ilford Golf Club has a long and varied history with times of turmoil, trouble and strife, yet the club still stands 102 years on.

In 2007, Ilford Golf Club had its centenary celebrations and in this hundredth year the golf club commissioned the Foster Davenport Parternship to research and write a book on the eventful and colourful history of this esteemed East London golf club.
