17.05.2010 - Leslie Woods team win narrow encounter

Leslie Woods Captain, Neil Glover, watched his team grind out a narrow victory at home to Colchester Golf Club in the 2nd round yesterday.

The morning foursomes was a very tense affair finishing 2½-2½ but as the weather turned in the afternoon Ilfords team grew stronger and finally ran out winners by 8½-6½.

The game was so close that nine of the fifteen matches went to the last hole. Ilford must now play the winners of the Langdon Hills and Upminster match which was abandoned due to adverse weather conditions. The 3rd round tie will be played away from home on Sunday 13th June so please help the lads and support your team.

UPDATE [24/05/10]: Ilford now face an away trip to Langdon Hills in the 3rd round after they beat Upminster in the rescheduled 2nd round tie. The 3rd round tie will take place on Sunday 13th June.
